Academic Advisers
All students on taught courses at Sheffield Hallam University are allocated a named Academic Adviser.
They are a personal named contact and first point of reference for questions about your studies.
Academic Advising is delivered differently in different courses, but the role of the Academic Adviser is the same. They are there to support your:
- Academic Progression
- Personal Development
- Professional Development
You will meet your Academic Adviser in the first few weeks of your time at Hallam where you can discuss how you’re settling in.
They will then work with you during your studies to review your progress, identify actions to improve your academic performance and discuss wider course/development related opportunities. They are able to listen if you have issues affecting your studies and signpost you to the relevant specialist support if needed.
Your Course Team will provide you with details of who your Academic Adviser is and you will find their contact details on the ‘Key Support Advisers’ section of Blackboard.
