Moving from across the world

We welcome students from all around the world so here are some useful tips and ideas.

Many students joining the University of Nottingham will have life experience domestically, as well as internationally, however some of the information below will still be really valuable to you both.

We will provide you and your supporter with all the information you need to settle in Nottingham, including everything you need to do before starting your course. You will also receive further information in your emails and face-to-face events during Welcome Week.

British Culture Shock

Moving to the UK, is an exciting experience. However, it's important to be aware of cultural differences that may lead to a feeling of culture shock.

British culture has distinct characteristics that may differ from your home country. From differing fashion, food that may taste bland, cold, and grey weather and social behaviours that may confuse or surprise you, preparing now can lead to a smooth transition.

Talk through the scenarios on the next slide with your supporter and it will become clear the areas you both can start to work on!

Top Tip:  Accessing any resource or asking for advice, particularly from your academics is a strength! So, take advantage of it, they are more than happy to help.
