Parents, guardians and support networks
Introduction: Student
This section is intended to be completed by both you and your biggest supporter.
Wherever you're joining us from; whether returning to university, straight from school or travelling across the world; using the next few weeks to set yourself up for success and using your support network will give you the best start to university.
It's important to complete this section with your main supporter, whether that be a parent, guardian, or partner. If you are an independent student, this information will still be really valuable to you. In addition, you can see what support is available for estranged students.
Using your supporter is a strength when you find the right balance.
It's important to take time to talk with your supporter so you are both on the same page with setting expectations.
As students are adults, the university won't be able to share information without the student's consent. This is why communication is key and this module will hopefully help both you and your supporter open to having the right conversations.
There will be parts of the page that are directed at your supporter, and some directed at you.
This module is split into three sections, you and your supporter should read and complete all sections that are relevant to you:
- Moving away from home for the first time.
- Moving from across the world.
- Returning to education.
Throughout each page you will see sections coloured as below:
Student | Parent, Guardian, or Supporter |
This information is for student to read/think about/take action. | This information is for supporter to read/think about/take action. |
