Let's be clear on consent
Understanding consent is core to enabling you to form healthy, consensual relationships.
The University of Nottingham is working with the Students' Union to raise awareness about sexual consent amongst our students.
You will be expected to attend an in-depth, in-person session on consent. This will be scheduled on your academic timetable as part of your induction during Welcome Week. The session is led by students and supported by staff. Make sure you attend this session to learn everything you need to know and understand why it’s so important.
There are many myths and misconceptions about sexual consent, but with the 'Let’s be Clear on Consent' initiative, we aim to provide students with the right information.
Contraception is protection.
You can register for a condom card that will allow you to access free condoms throughout your time at university. The removal or absence of any agreed contraception during intercourse may make the act of sex non-consensual. Ensure you are always agreeing together on protection!
It's important to be on the same page with your partner to maintain a healthy and safe relationship. That's why communication is key. You want to avoid making assumptions and just be as open as possible.
