Looking after your wellbeing
Academic support
There is a wealth of academic support to help with your transition to university!
During your first couple of weeks, you will receive a big chunk of information which is specific to your course, but here is an overview of a few support opportunities:
- Personal tutors - Every student is assigned a personal tutor. Your personal tutor is your gateway to the wider student support and development provision of the University.
- Peer Mentors - You may be paired with a second or third-year student who are trained to help you settle into your course and student life. Please check the peer mentoring scheme of your school.
- Course representatives (run by the SU) - Students who represent you and your fellow coursemates to feedback your views and push for positive impacts for your course.
- Student services centres - Visit in person or online for advice and support on your academic journey from registration through to graduation.
- Libraries - The perfect spaces to study and research for both solo and group work. Libraries also offer a range of academic, information and digital skills training short courses.
- Academic Language and Communication Skills (ALACS) - Access a range of more in-depth programmes that will develop your academic and English language skills.
Top Tip: You can sign yourself up for a multitude of sessions and workshops through the support functions above to help develop the skills you need throughout your time at university. |
